Exposition to Radio Broadcasting - A Visit to Diamond FM.
To familiarize with the process and operation of radio broadcasting, 300 level students of the department recently made a visit to Diamond FM, Ibadan. This was necessary to supplement their theoretical training of Communication Systems where they have been introduced to the basic components of a communication system: the transmitter, channel and the receiver.The students were accompanied by their lecturer, Mr. Olufajo, who is also responsible for organizing the educative exercise. Mr Tony, the station manager, was on ground to receive the students. In his welcome address, he gave a brief history of the station. According to him, the station was established in 2008 to commemorate the 60 years anniversary of the university. The idea, as initially conceived by the Faculty of Agriculture of the institution, was to create a farm radio where instant information on planting, technological advancement in agriculture and market prospects could be passed across to farmers to boost productivity.
